Welcome to Jelly!

It's 2009, and Obama has become the American president, voted and funded into office by citizens who believe in grassroots political agency.

The promise of Obama's campaign heralds a technological turning point that we must not take for granted. Those of us who work to shape and empower information must act at this moment to ensure that we continue forward. It's time for the people of the world to organize, share, and own their voices, to take control of what has been sold as Web 2.0.

Jelly offers a new way of developing websites.

It wraps all the complex data processes that are needed to develop interactive, data-driven, social websites into a interface that runs entirely in the browser and feels as beautiful as Vimeo or Flickr. The software is open source and lives independently on the server of its user, who maintains complete control of the data. By offering a free and accessible tool that eliminates many of the barriers to running a web service, we hope to empower the enthusiastic class of Web 2.0 users to break free of static content structures develop the websites they imagine.

Jelly is within months of a public release.
